生平

薩金特1943年生于加州帕薩迪納，于1964年畢業(yè)自加州大學(xué)柏克萊分校，1968年獲得哈佛大學(xué)博士學(xué)位。歷任賓夕法尼亞大學(xué)(1970-1971)、明尼蘇達(dá)大學(xué)(1971-1987)、芝加哥大學(xué)(1991-1998)、斯坦福大學(xué)(1998-2002)等校教職，目前為紐約大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)系威廉·柏克利經(jīng)濟(jì)和商業(yè)講座教授。他同時也是計量經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)會會士(1967)、斯坦福大學(xué)胡佛研究所高級研究員(1987)。

2012年5月，接受聘任，擔(dān)任首爾大學(xué)教授。
